Went to party today
Played Pass the Parcel (with forfeits)

I got Peter Pepper to recite Banghead
Hubby cheated, so did Mike and so did Amy (who is only 5)

Happy Birthday Mike- this is what you do when you're 60 and have 4 grandchildren to your party.....

'Listen to me very carefully. Your appointment is at 9.30am, not a minute later. You arrive at the clinic door promptly, this is to prove you are committed to this detox. If you arrive late they will not let you in, if you arrive too early, they will not let you in. Half past nine Davey, what time do you have to be at Flaghead?'

Today:
'Oh you know you had that pep talk with Davey'
'Yes' I say
'Well he got to clinic'
'Oh good'
'No, not really, he got there at 11.30. Came into us on Saturday afternoon to complain they wouldn't let him in'

Doh

You never played Pass the Parcel! Shok

You had no childhood!
What about Musical Chairs?
Mother's Ring?
Hunt the Thimble?
Squeak Piggie Squeak?
Postman's Knock?

Great fun as kids, a bit more dubious playing as adults Blush

idk maybe we had different names for games but mostly i grew up in the country as an only child i played such awesome games as:

break the cinder blocks with a rock
throw the knife/hatchet at trees
electrical tape and nail throwing star challenge
if it moves in the woods shoot it with a BB
vertical arboreal shimmying challenge
hey what is in this abandoned cabin
lets try to cross this ice
the no brakes downhill bike challenge with river bailout
make the neighbors dogs bark
get on the roof and crow like a rooster
lawn darts
bash the hotwheels cars with a hammer
grape vine tarzan swing...

What about Musical Chairs? --That's the only one I recognize.

idk maybe we had different names for games but mostly i grew up in the country as an only child i played such awesome games as:

break the cinder blocks with a rock -- yes
throw the knife/hatchet at trees -- yes
electrical tape and nail throwing star challenge -- no - we chucked crab apples off the end of a stick at cop cars though, and each other. Quite painful
if it moves in the woods shoot it with a BB -- the boys did
vertical arboreal shimmying challenge -- yes, my brother was expert at this and we had some poles in the house he would practice on too. Was a room divider thing, floor to ceiling.
hey what is in this abandoned cabin -- yes but abandoned houses
lets try to cross this ice -- no, we were smarter than that. Tongue Couple kids did and died too. Was enough to scare us.
the no brakes downhill bike challenge with river bailout -- yes but no river bailout. The girls watched. Boys used the woods or road as bailout.
make the neighbors dogs bark -- didn't need to try on that one! All the dogs were misbehaved in our neighborhood.
get on the roof and crow like a rooster -- no
lawn darts -- no
bash the hotwheels cars with a hammer -- absolutely! The Red Baron was the toughest one to bash.
grape vine tarzan swing... -- yes, over the creeks!

Steal anyone whose dad was a cop's bullets and make our own guns
Shopping cart bash up - two shopping carts, shark test fishing line, stretch it across the road and hide the carts behind trees. Next car gets bashed on both sides.
Setting our "enemie's" forts on fire.

sounds like you had a robust and adventurous childhood for a city yankee kitty Biggrin

as far as the ice crossing challenge there was a very shallow cove nearby that i would cut across, bluegill bed there in the spring and it was never more than 18 inches deep but it had that really soft deep mud and i did come home on occasion missing a shoe that was eaten by the mud monster

Spent a lot of my childhood up a tree in various places. That was useful, spying, hiding, and surprise attacks.

These are 'party games' I'm talking about at Christmas, birthday or when quick entertainment to fill time before lighting candles, answering the door to Santa or while someone nips out to the shop for more beer.

Oh yeah. We moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island when SI was still considered the "country". We had lots of woods and dirt roads and everything.

Remind me one day to tell you about the traps we set up after seeing the movie Papillon. That poor cop never stood a chance.

Hell, I still wing crab apples out of the yard on the end of a driveway marker.
