Tatties (mashed potato) and neeps (mashed turnip or swede) peferably together you philistine.

Mashed turnip?? wot

yup. Just like mashed potatoes.

Aren't turnips kind of 'hot'... I mean, like horseradish hot? That sounds really odd.

The small ones are like radishes the big ones you mash are really parsnips and much more mild and have a potato-y taste and texture.

For some time now my favourite root vegetable for soup has been the humble, and much maligned Parsnip
Baxters Soups have it in cans (spicy parsnip)...but I've since learned how to make my own.

They make a range of fine quality products made on Speyside.
Baxters soups are nut-free and contain no artificial colours, hydrogenated fats or added MSG

Talking about Speyside....this is what a Speyside distillery looks like.....

That's where they make the single malt known as, The Glenlivet.
Distilling whisky in Scotland pre dates the births of Ludwig van Beethoven, & Napoleon Bonaparte. Finding "the" original date goes back into antiquity.

Is that a personal photo you took of the place? I would've expected you to be MUCH closer. Wink

Roast parsnips kick ass, especially with a bit of a honey glaze and some rosemary.

Now those look good. You just roast them in the oven with what? Coated in a little olive oil, rosemary, salt and pepper? or without S & P because the honey and rosemary are enough? Do you roast them with the honey and rosemary or is the honey drizzled after they're done and ready to serve?

I usually just use a light brushing of honey and a sprinkling of rosemary which give them a sweet flavour, if you want a more savoury kick you could add some salt or pepper or even replace the honey with some garlic.

Those roasted parsnips do look good, I'm making those for dinner tonight. I'm also going to pick up a jar of that Marmite, I'm just curious to see if it makes me puke or not.

You will either love it or puke and nothing inbetween.
