I bet the good old lead in our gasoline is what kept global warming at bay for all those years.

No, that was bringing on Global Cooling and the New Ice Age back in the 70s. Since Global Warming is becoming an ever fuzzy issue, we're just going to blame all the emissions for Climate Change.

What gets me is all those countries who bitch we are the worst polluters, won't sign on to the Kyoto agreement and put too much love into our cars are still selling leaded gas for the antique vehicles or other things.

Here, antique vehicles must be altered to use unleaded gas, no exceptions.

They also happen to be hive locations who are in love with massive bureaucracies and gov't regulation. The main point of the Kyoto protocol was to impost control on the US, or pressure it into being controlled. It didn't work out that well, and since it was signed, several countries have pulled out of the treaty.

Anyhow, it's bumped up to $3.64 here. Man, I think I might drop $400 on a new bike.

You could get a real good used one like I did off CraigsList. That Trek 7700 retails for over $1600 now, and I got a used 2004 model for $275, and paid my cooperative about $70 for a complete tuneup. I even now have a new cassette to go with the new chain.

I like the fuel it burns off.

I am in the market for another bike as well. I have a Schwinn Mesa at present, but the money I put into gear shifters, chains, bearings, etc, all could likely add up to a brand new bike, or a newer one at least.

Looks like you have some road tires on it.

I do. They came with the bike, so I intend to wear them out before getting another set of road tires. I rarely take it off the road, or trail, so I won't to be roughing it any time soon. It really moves out, and with that new cassette, the shifting is spotless.

I've added things to the bike since that picture was taken, including a rear view mirror, and LED lights.

If you are shopping on CL for bikes use www.bikepedia.com to check up on actual prices and what years they were made and what actually came on them when they were new.

Yeah, twist is a font of info for bikes and helped me out with my new bike. I still haven't tricked it out with my HK bell (yeah I got one for Christmas Tongue ) and I still need to buy a set of bags of some sort to stash stuff so I can go grocery shopping if I want. The stores are literally around the corner but too far to walk.

My favorite is trail riding though and I got that nifty app for tracking my trail progress and an app that lists all the parks nation wide and where they allow bikes. I got a list of places we will be trying this summer providing Matt does not take the truck every weekend on me! The bike rack is on the truck. Smile
