Well, since I'm in what they deem a city (LOL yeah), we dont' drive too far for much. When I had the farm in the middle of the state, it was a haul for most things but they developed that area fast so the stores were only a five minute drive after a few years. But the big shopping, malls and what not were quite a ways off. I didn't mind it because having the land, horses and room were the positive payoff. I miss living in the boonies. This 'city-suburb' stinks.
I am one or the other.... give me a REAL city like NY or the boonies. I hate this middle crap. But, it was what I could afford after my divorce. I figured if I am stuck with boonies, the beach is the way to go.
