It's just a trick for quoting something from a different thread than the one you're reading and going to post in is all.

See the button with the green plus sign smushed between the Good Post button and the Report button? That's the multi quote button. You click that and a little box with links and text appears below the box you type in on the quick reply below the last post in the thread.

If you leave it alone and don't post yet, then go to a different thread to reply, that quoted stuff is still in the quick reply box (below it) waiting for you to activate it and quote it.

Click the prompt to quote the stuff and then post below it. Give it a try.

You can even quote someone, activate the quote and reply in the quick reply box, then go and scroll up the same page and click those plus sign buttons more and it will add more to your already formatted post. click it and add it.
