0 Ok here's a few screen shots. Keep in mind this is taken from a VMWare virtual machine running on a laptop, so... the height is kinda short, and the screen is wide. Still, looks nice imo. And I don't even like Windows!
Basic shot with FireFox opened Shot with FileZilla opened up, and mouse hovering over the system group on the taskbar (yes, things are grouped!!) and showing the pop up window with the 2 system windows I had opened And finally a shot with everything minimize and the sticky note gadget opened on my desktop I'll have more shots later when I have time to play more! I've gotta get off this damned computer soon so I can go watch Stargate Universe.

0 So is Windows 7 better then windows Vista?
We have Vista on both computers and looked at Windows 7 today at the store. Bruce hates vista I don't mind it so much. but if windows 7 is better he might like it better. Thanks

The UAC (User Account Control, commonly mistakenly referred to as User Access Control) is far less annoying, and is also easier to disable (which I always do). It has smoothed out the rough edges of new features released in Vista. And all in all seems to run faster. I'm still a Linux geek, and I'm still a tad pissed about Mirco$oft stealing the look of the KDE Desktop Environent for Linux (Yes, in Linux you get to CHOOSE your desktop, there is not "stock" one) for Vista/Win7 Screenshots of what I mean... KDE Desktop: KDE Desktop.png (Size: 15.93 KB / Downloads: 25) And Win7 Desktop: Win7 Desktop.png (Size: 67.01 KB / Downloads: 2) As you can see they both have a circular start button, and icons for task bar items. They're almost identical. The grouping of similar things on the task bar with pop up showing miniature versions of the program windows is also in KDE for Linux but I don't have a screenie handy as I normally run GNOME for Linux instead. So yeah... Microsoft steals yet another idea...

0 Thank you!
I guess I will have to do some more looking at it then. If you think of anything else that would be helpfull let me know. We will need to the package deal with 32 and 64 bit. As we have both. 32 on the lap top and 64 on the desk top.

0 Well, others may advise against it, but I say spend the extra money for the Ultimate edition. If you never use the extra features its a little bit of a waste, but its more wasteful to want/need one of those features and have to buy separate software to get it. Also, I'm still working it up, but I'm going to post a list of excellent free softwares over @ Skin City Designs (Twitchy's other website) in the Resources subforum of the computer help forum I moderate. Things like OpenOffice (MS Office replacement), FileZilla (FTP, better than most paid), The GIMP (Image editing, and can do 98% of what Photoshop can, but is a bit more difficult to use), and other things like that.

You mean they stole it from Apple. Apple has been doing that for ages. I tried the new Apple Imac's last night. I wanted to play with the Mac Pro but some snotty little brat was hogging the thing as if it were her personal play toy. The whole look of W7 is very similar to the Apple's OS X.6. Apple allows you to use Boot Camp - this is what Dylan is now doing with his Linux stuff (or was) - all I need is a disk for say, WXP, Vista or W7 and I can boot from disk any Windows Operating System on my Apple. I'm sure I can do that with that Linux as well. No, as usual, MS ripped off Apple just like they did when Bill Gates quit work at Apple and "invented" Windows and the home pc. I think my learning curve is going to be minimal on the Apple and the machine is very, very powerful out of the box. The ONLY thing (contrarary to what Dylan says to me) that I don't like is that it's propriatary in repairs. Like your Ipod, you need a special tool to open it and it's only allowed to be repaired by certain authorized Apple repair shops to fix. I think I can live with that. I'll have my old pc to back me up if I need internet access.
I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head
0 Actually you're wrong
The button only appears in the Apple because like Linux they started with the OpenMotif desktop environment. Which is where it is originally from. And THAT was originally written to be Open Sourced for ANY UNIX/Linux based system. And Apple's OS is UNIX based. So there. Oh yeah, and also, your learning curve on Linux would be only slightly harder than on Linux... but then, you want me to stop trying to "sell" you on Linux so that doesn't matter

0 I fell in love last night with the Imac.
If I had $4K I'd go for the Mac Pro. www.apple.com It's a beautiful thing.
