Is anyone else watching the Olympic hockey game tonight?

We got Canada vs Russia.

They're making a huge deal out of Canada beating the Russians as if there is that "old rivalry" all over again like in '80. No, never again will we see amateur competition in the olympics.

But I AM enjoying watching Canada slap around Alexander Ovechkin! I can't stand that clown.

5 seconds left in the 1st and it's a 4-1 game in Canada's favor. [Image: nhl_crash.gif]

Nope, not watching it but hockey is one of the few sports I'd actually consider going to see live. I like the semi-pro teams that really mix it up (read "bash the shit out of each other")

It's a decent game going on but not as exciting as the announcers are trying to make it out to be. It sucks you living in Utah, not any NHL team there. They are quite good at beating the shit out of each other still. I think that "gentler rule change" of the last couple years backfired on them.

We go see a few lower level leagues play too, good stuff. I love the sport and go as often as I can. I'm lucky, I got three teams that are equally distant apart for me to pick to see for a live game, Flyers, Devils or Rangers.

Two members of my local team (The Grand Rapids Griffins) are playing in the Olympics. Of course, they're dual team players... Red Wings/Griffins Biggrin

Christ, that game last night was a bloodbath. Poor Russians. Goalie Nabokov was sitting on the bench after being pulled and I can read his face -"I am so glad I don't live in Russia or play for Russia anymore!"

You just KNOW the Russian coach was giving them shit like there's no tomorrow in the locker room on the first break, never mind the second one.

And when did they start allowing all that rough NHL style play in Olympic hockey? There were TONS of dirty hits and really hard checking that normally wouldn't be allowed in the past.

Damn, I don't like this shit where we got all pros now for athletes in the Olympics. It dismisses the whole idea of amateur sports. Sad

That helmet rocks! Now we better win or it's going to just wind up being silly. Nah, it's still fucking cool.

And Canada beat your sorry asses! I wonder why nobody has mentioned this yet?, or are Yank fans fickle and fairweather fans who only mention or support their team when they are winning?

AtyouAtyouAtyouAtyouAtyou

How does a country of 300 million people lose to a country of 35 million people?, or is it just general incompetence?

"OH CANADA!!!!!!!!

You realize that is an idiotic statement?
First of all, winning a game does not count on the population of a country. Its not like we sent legions of players against each other out on the ice you retard.

I watched the game and intended to comment THIS MORNING. Sorry I didn't report in your acceptable time frame.

The game was an overtime game, not exactly a slaughter or a big fat victory for Canada. It was a good game played equally well by both teams.

If you bothered to watch you'd know how ridiculous your gloating is.

FYI - we don't hate Canada here. 86
