So we settled on an F-150.
One month wait. THAT surprised me and I'm thrilled about that! We really need it as the Edge is just too small for all the band equipment. When he has to haul all the stuff for a gig it's a 2 car trip because you can't fit a human passenger in the car. With this beauty we can.

This is pretty much it with a few more bells and whistles.
https://shop.ford.com/build/f150/#/confi...AR.67T.%5D

I won't be using stupid things like that "pro trailer backing assist" or the shit that buzzes your seat but now once it's in we need to go cap shopping too.
I went into the dealer the other day to get one and my guy wasn't there. The "truck guy" was and I walked out. He treated me like I'm some dumb woman who had no clue what I wanted or needed and when he tried to tell me all the options I have that you see in the images below are not available in the Lariat, I left. He tried to tell me Ford is lying. Seriously? He also insisted no one needs an 8' bed. We pulled Matt's upright hard case into the room. Well, almost. It's 7' tall and it didn't fit under the ventilation pipe. Told you. asshole.
He also argued that I didn't need anything bigger than a class 3 hitch. Really? I want a class 4 and dont' argue with me. I have seen lesser hitches twist on a windy day or with an unbalance load. Sorry. This is not my first truck. It's the lightest weight I've ever bought, but I know what the fuck I'm spec'ing out.

Looks like you bought a truck missing a big part of it's roof...

LOL

They changed up that back seat a lot. The headrests will be coming out and most likely it will stay folded flat. Oy I never asked if they fold flat! I hope it does.

Already I have friends coming out of the woodwork with slick questions like "Wonder how much stuff you can fit in there?"

Big fucking bed.  Will hold a lot.

I don't help people move that I wouldn't help even if I didn't have a truck.  I have hauled stuff for work.  And in the past year between us moving, cleaning out my Dad's house and hauling out of my son's house, I have conservatively hauled 100+ loads.  Paid for itself just in one year.  Plus my son hauled a bunch in the Compensator from his work.  And amazing amount of trash and donations...

It's just amazing how people become interested in you so fast though. I'll haul shit for someone if I offer it, otherwise, unless you're going to do the heavy hauling, lifting and throw in for gas and come clean out the truck to spotless once it's done, the answer is no.

I hauled tons with the other truck too. I just don't like when people take advantage and they most certainly do and without shame.

It's also getting a cap on it too, because Ford shortened the inside of the beds to under 21"! Seriously? We were looking to using only one of those hard shell tonneau covers, but not with that stupid bed like that. What were they thinking?

Pickup trucks today aren't really meant to be primarily used as trucks.

In the past pickups were meant to be a truck first and haul people second. Today it's the reverse. They are a passenger hauler that can haul more cargo than an SUV. Fucking "trendy" people have bastardized them. They wanted something that would sort of do what an old crew cab truck could but those were "too big/too ugly" so we now have pickups with 4 foot beds that sit really high but have dick snot for hauling capacity.

The shorter fleet sides on even the full sized beds make for less cargo space like you're saying.

Hell my '01 has a 6.5 foot bed. What the hell is wrong with 8 foot beds? The "mid size" Dakota I had was an 8 foot bed! So was my S10.

Stupid trendy assholes thought pickups would be cool but not if they are like "well ya know......the stuff that rednecks drive". So what do the manufacturers do? Bastardize them to capture the snotty fuckers who have more money than brains market.

I'm glad you found a truck with a full sized bed and some people hauling capacity. As for caps, you might want to look into Jeraco caps. They make some decent high rise models to give you a better height profile so you can stack more gear.

Here's the nearest listed dealer:
J & C Campers, LLC
540 Route 539, Creamridge, NJ

Leer has one that would work well for you too.

MTE right there in Toms River is supposed to have them.

BTW:
It looks to me like the rear seat backs don't fold down but the benches fold up.

Not getting a high top cap. Just a nice, level one without windows because we don't want to invite theft.

I've been shopping at J & C a long time! Good people, family owned and operated.

It does look like they fold up. Ugh. Either way, it's not going to be used as a vehicle for those "new BFF's". That shit with the depth of the bed is weird. The outside skirts are the proper, and same height, they managed to shorten it on the inside only. Really weird.

I'm guessing that the frame sits higher and they simply moved the sides down making the bed more shallow.

Maybe. Whatever they did sucks. those wheel wells used to be nearly half a wheel in height and they were nice enough to put a little dent in it so I can sit. Now it's even too small for me! That says a lot.

Last time I had a cap on a truck, I bought http://www.snugtop.com/  Not cheap, but it was high quality, and the paint matched flawlessly.
