Well, contrary to older conversations here, the 2015 Mustang 50th Anniversary model looks freakin' awesome!

I'm now seriously thinking of trading in my 2009.

They said in the video. Coyote V8 for the GT (i think).

The base model is bigger too. 3.something liters compared to my 2.something.

I'm going to look into A-plan pricing and then see about maybe upgrading. Not too keen on the paddle shifters though, but at least that's optional and not standard. I like the stick and I'm not so sure I'll get used to shifting on the steering wheel like that. It'll sell a lot though from assholes with a ton of money to burn who think they're race car drivers.

I still like my car's body style best. I'm not too keen on the upward slope of the rear end.

I can stand nearly upright in the one I have now

I do miss the old style mirrors. The ones today although fit the design esthetically, are a giant blind spot even for taller drivers when making left hand turns. It uses up a good deal of valuable visibility in the corner of the side windows.

Solid rear axle vs independent rear suspension -

Anyone 'intimately' familiar with the differences? I've only ever driven cars with solid rear axles and the new Mustang has the independent rear suspension.

Can someone give me how it FEELS and behaves comparatively?

Most modern suv's have IRS since they are considered soccer mom trucks and just need capacity and are usually kept on the road for most of their use. Your explorer I would bet has IRS, it gives a smoother ride, does better on turns and better traction. IRS is best for street, off road or uneven terrain solid is better because less moving parts and all around is stronger and can handle more stresses. In a mustang IRS is better all around then solid axle.

I can't feel the difference in the Explorer. I hate that thing. I hated the Jeep Wrangler when we had one too. Stupid things don't have a long enough wheel base and it always feels like it's going to 'tip over' on turns. All SUV's feel the same to me - well except big ones like the Excursion or Suburban. Those are as long as a regular sized pickup truck. Even the old full sized Bronco felt uneasy to me.

I drive MUCH slower in this than the Mustang. It's way too hard for me to tell.

Anyone got a comparison between like sized and vehicles?

Anthony, how it IRS better for the Mustang when you just said it's all around stronger and less moving parts?

Between terrain and solid I was suppose to have a comma I messed up in my typing.

IRS is better for the mustang because of its on road performance advantages,stability, traction etc, you wont off road with your mustang and that is the only time IRS is at a disadvantage because of the additional linkages.Keep in mind doing tight turns or driving fast has no effect on IRS as far as wear on the joints is concerned.

Solid axle is more heavily built and has less moving parts giving it the offroad advantages, but a stiffer rougher ride on street driving.
