0 This is also what happens when the laws become so numerous that all it takes is a bit of digging to nail you on anything.
Brown shirts? Not so much as this is the pattern of how the state evolves. In our case it was revolution --> freedom --> expansion of powers/responsibilities --> growth --> present time --> oppression? In history, the gov't of many countries ends up oppressing its populace.

0 Yes. And Jughead....uh Barack Ocommie....uh the jackwad currently in the Oval Office is quite happy to allow these things.

0 I think a lot of this bullshit starts at the local level and creeps up too. People get frustrated when they don't feel protected and the push for things they think they need and it snowballs from there. Then there are the areas where you cannot have guns. I honestly think a LOT of the dictatorial stuff begins there. If you cannot protect yourself you are now vulnerable and suckered into thinking "someone" is going to be there to protect you. The people become more and more dependent on government and will allow too many things to be taken from them under the guise they are being taken care of. This snowballed to the 'entitlement' attitude we have now.
As for the cops acting like storm troopers - they're pretty 'cunty' here for the most part. There are a few pleasant individuals scattered about here and there, but since I've been in Jersey, 1988, the cops were always self-righteous pricks. To this day, NYC cops are very pleasant to talk with and don't have that storm trooper attitude. I'm sure there are some pricks amongst the bunch (before someone says how wrong I must be), but every time I've had to deal with a NY cop I've never gotten attitude like I get here.

0 You know something I've been thinking lately: fuck America. This country as it stands in existence as a state institution squashes good people, freedom, and turns things of beauty (the land, culture, etc) into piles of shit, and subjugates smaller communities.
It is hard to believe bullshit like that in NJ exists in the same country as me.

0 You lost me. What bullshit in NJ are you talking about? Besides the gun crap that is.

0 The cops in NJ you are talking about!
Granted, they can be assholes everywhere, but I have never been maltreated by Law Enforcement here or in most of the Western US. Even Law Enforcement in Texas.

0 Ah ok. I thought that but really wasn't sure for some reason.
My town's cops are pretty cool. Especially when it comes to gun ownership and stuff too. I don't have the hard time Anthony does and he's only separated by one or two towns depending on the direction you take to get there / here. Jackson cops are pricks too. It's funny. Some of them come here on a call all "puffed" up with their chest out tight, hands on their belt like they're ready for action and it's usually something stupid. I find it's the guys who've been in a few years that are like that and the young guys and the older guys are OK. I've never been disrespected, but I can tell when someone has a Holier than Thou attitude. NYC will stop and have a coffee with you if you ask.
