a piece of a horseshoe. The right side of the shoe toward the back to be exact.
Looks like a very old piece of the shoe that was broken up or dug up and this is what's left.

Those holes are the EXACT holes used for horseshoe nails and I see dirt lodged in them. Maybe it was underwater and recovered from a shipwreck?

Gotta give it to Twitch for being as close as possible without the exact word they have on it.
They say it is an ox shoe. Not knowing what an ox shoe, or and ox's foot looks like I'll have to take their word for it.

Ah yes, I see the cloven hoof shape! That thing is very old and worn though. See that line from side to side on the square end? That's where there would be a raised bit of metal like a "heel" if you will, for grip on slippery surfaces, almost like adding boreum to the front of a horse shoe.

It was the square holes that gave it away.

I'm building up quite a collection of cookies.

OH and that would make that a left side hoof too. I was mistaken on it being right side.

I thought of saying half of a horse shoe due to the holes for the nail heads. I didn't know oxen were shodden!

I knew but it's one of those things that you don't remember until it's mentioned. I am pretty sure oxen are the only cloven hoofed animals that are shod as well due to the fact they are "beasts of burden".
