This morning at around 10 o'clock Barb thought she heard mewing like a kitten somewhere. As we checked, sure enough......our little calico cat Callie had given us a surprise. There she was under my dresser with a newborn kitten!

Not too long after that came #2 and within an hour #3 showed up.

We only began to suspect that she MIGHT be pregnant yesterday! Shok

Here's mom and hours old babies in our "nursery cage".

The little dark one has a face that looks just like daddy.
Yesterday he (probably a boy) already started "talking" like a Maine Coon so will probably favor that part of his lineage as his father is big Bo, one of our Maine Coon cats.

Twitch got a look at Bo while we were having a Skype video conversation a few weeks ago. Big boy!
He stood guard over the wee ones last night and is keeping an eye on Callie and the babies.

I like to give the little one a few days to get settled before I check for gender.

99% of all calico cats are female so that's one already done Biggrin

Yeah I saw that and it looks like that one with the stripes could be a tortoiseshell as well. That's iffy, it has to develop a little more to see if more patchy color comes in. You need three colors in distinct patches with white for calico and blended tri colors like the mom are considered tortoiseshell. I think the white on the torti's is optional and either way acceptable.
The female only rule applies to torti's as well as calico.

Well......the little one that looks like dad is in fact a little tomcat. Time will tell if he develops the Maine Coon traits.

If he get a fluffy tail, hairy big assed feet and a bit of a mane then his heritage will be showing through. Actually I'm hoping they all get those traits.
