Yes - as I said in the first post we have her on phenobarbital for seizures, but we are not 100% sure these are seizures, so Saturday hopefully will yield a proper diagnosis.

Ah, I didn't know that was what that drug was for - some reason I had assumed it was something else.

Well, if it's seizures, at least it can be mitigated. I would hate to find out it's something worse.

It still could be. The involuntary peeing and the fact her per smells like coffee laden human pee have me concerned. It's not common for neurological disorders to show sudden weight loss either.

Kitty is fine. Doc cost only $155 to tell us to keep on doing what we're doing and watch for other signs of weirdness. That will mean she's blown through the meds and needs either an adjustment or testing. Tried to con us into a $2000.00 - that's right, two thousand dollars - MRI to rule out a tumor in her head. If she has a tumor there is nothing that can be done about it and the only thing would be to make her comfortable until the end. I cannot justify spending that money like that knowing it's all the same results. Didn't need an MRI to see Iggy had a tumor. They're pretty obvious.

So, hopefully this will be as rough as it's going to get and we'll be ok with the cheap meds.

They are always keen to use lots of hi-tech aren't they?
They wanted to do blood tests on Barclay. He is a Guinea Pig! Chest infection, limited antibiotics can be used on a piggie, so what does a blood test prove? High white cell count and possibly calcium with low iron and vitamin c. Expected when anyone is ill.

But yeah, you're right - they are fast to suggest the most expensive thing to diagnose with when they know the result ahead of time. Like I'd even consider a brain operation on the cat. Even if I had gobs of money to waste on something like that, I wouldn't do it. How the hell do you explain that to your pet?

I keep my pets out of the vet clinics as though they carry the plague. They are the same thing as hospitals to humans. If you want to die, get admitted to the hospital.

My now deceased Barney, never went to the vet. And the only thing he ever developed was a growth on his right paw. I did take him in then to have it removed, but he was twelve then, and it was the only time. He would have probably lived to be eighteen, but I accidentally backed up over him, and it almost killed me. I grieved for almost a year.

My current shih-tzu, CharlieK, has never been to the vet, and I intend to keep it that way if possible. I do my own vaccinations, purchase my goods over the internet, and keep him the hell away from the vet. My groomer even comes to my house, so I don't have to take him to a grooming salon where he can catch other dog's diseases.
