So I've been having a problem with one of my cats all week. She's been waking up from a dead sleep hissing and looking disoriented, then she would start licking as if something was stuck in her throat, salivating and then she would involuntarily void her bladder. She would do this over and over and only from sleeping. Never awake. She also lost about 3 pounds.

So, off to the vet we go. I can't be cleaning up pee like this.
He's stumped. Ran blood work anyway.
We / he thinks its some kind of seizure because it only happens when she's sleeping and she's perfectly fine after.

So, he put her on phenylbarbitol and we have an appointment with a friggin' pet neurologist Saturday.

Now, what is REALLY funny is the ER vet. Remember the one who is in when my friend isn't on duty? The one with the girlfriend who has to remind us she's banging the vet? Yeah, well she (the GF) answers the phone and she decides that she's going to give advice and let me know we must get her in there ASAP as she's in organ failure. I should make sure I call before I bring her in. Yeah, OK. I waited till the morning and took her to my regular vet to avoid the double ER fees.

Someone needs to check that woman's mouth before she gets the practice sued.

You might just try changing the cats food, it could be an allergic reaction, try chicken breast and see if she straightens out.

A resolution to avoid an evil is seldom framed till the evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible.

She's been on the same food for years. No change in diet as she almost died from a certain brand of dry food once. Went back to my Iams dry and Friskies canned food and she's fine. This is definitely not an allergic reaction since it only happens when she's sleeping, Havoc. Also, it's stopped since she has been on the meds except for the involuntary peeing. Poor thing wakes up in a puddle of pee. I've been washing cat beds constantly. Also, her pee does not smell like cat pee, but more like human pee as if someone drank a ton of coffee.

I don't know anybody that might be web developer. And if need a dig at anyone, I'll just tell them straight out. Assuming that they don't ignore PM's like a child...

One of my mother's dachshunds, Lucy, came down with seizures. It's a shame, as she is a real sweetheart and extremely clever little fucker.

It shouldn't be too much to pick up seizure medication. Some animals just develop them at some point I guess. We only have to feed her half a pill twice a day. Doesn't cost much to get enough for several months worth.
