0 It's bullshit regulation just like 99% of all the regulations on the books that the fed imposes.
It's bleeding heart liberal politics along with an unhealthy dose of stupidity. It's too late, I already have 4 electrics and 3 acoustics, 2 with ebony and the rest with indian rose wood fret boards. The loons are running the nut house. vote out everyone and start over with a few stumps and some rocks.
A resolution to avoid an evil is seldom framed till the evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible.

0 Yeah I'm with you. Matt has guitars with rosewood and ebony as well.
Why is the music community mum on all of this? How come a big stink isn't being made by them? ![]()

0 It is just another example of Eco-PC gone amuck.
I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

0 My Epiphone AccuBass has a rosewood fingerboard.
What the article doesn't mention but I heard right from the horse's mouth in an interview with Gibson'r CEO was that they were told that if Gibson Guitar Co. were to set up a manufacturing plant in Madagascar then they would not be in violation! Yeah....THAT'S the way to create more American jobs. Gibson discounts this idea as ridiculous and maintains that it's an American company and has no plans to change that. I suppose Fender can skirt that dumb assed law since it has facilities in Japan and Mexico. Problem is though that Fender MIMs (Made In Mexico) are not the same quality as the guitars that come out of the US facility. Same goes for the Japanese models. I wonder if Fender is in the Obama camp? Typical lefty crap going on here. A law that is intended to preserve certain trees in this case leads to stiff fines for the sake of a bent interpretation by the EPA would be just A fucking OK if they set up shop abroad. Now how the fuck does that change anything? They would STILL be using the same wood but with another manufacturing facility in theory they would use MORE of it! One product order number off? Give me a break!!!!! Next thing almost HAS to be......"Well you could start using wood from Kenya!"

0 But NONE of the people using the guitars are speaking up! We all know plenty of musicians now are on the "lefty wagon train" and have been for some time, but I can't imagine any of them going along with this bullshit and sacrificing quality over sound for this.
Someone needs to open their mouths other than stupid Fox news. ![]() 0 Oh the answer thee is simple. They will go to custom luthiers and "obtain" replacement fingerboards so it will be alright by them. Basically they will have someone ignore the law and get away with it because they are a small and obscure company and therefore not on the EPA's radar. Or they will do the same abroad where the U.S. law isn't in effect. Thus, they will "customize" their guitar and bypass the regulation and walk away with a rosewood or ebony fingerboard.
Do remember, lefties are all for laws if they can themselves skirt them. "We are all equal. Some of us are just more equal than others." Squealer the pig in George Orwell's book "Animal Farm". |
