0 I wonder how LH is doing?
Woke up this morning and the news is saying there is historic flooding up in Vermont. He's next door in NH and so far no reports from there. Rhode Island is a mess.

0 Did you know that we already had a Hurricane Irene back in 2005?

0 What was it after Floyd in 1999? I thought that was Irene too when the others fizzled

0 Isabel was after Floyd. Click that link in the post above for a list of all storms to hit NJ and the damage (or not) they did.
The first Irene was in 2005.

We flew into Bermuda a few days after Floyd and Sara berated us for travelling during hurricane season and showed us where a couple of pink bungalows had got swept off the cliff and that The Arches had fallen into the sea. Mark was saddened about that, so we took the moped over the golf course to get to the beach were they once were (and got caught by security). Amazing surf! Then Isabel was brewing as we left....... Sara was fretting we would get stuck in New Jersey and miss our flight home, but the wind got us home in double quick speed Shortest flight ever from the States we've done

0 Holy shitstorms Batman! 40 hours without electricity.
The actual storm wasn't that bad here. There were some high winds but nothing near hurricane force. I'd estimate the gusts were up to around 55 mph and sustained winds were around 35 - 40 at the worst. Rainfall could have been worse but the ground is pretty saturated and any rain in the next 3 days could cause flash flooding. The real pisser is that in this area only the circuit that I'm on and another just over the mountain wewr the only ones off more than an hour or two. Fucking PPL......Pennsylvania Power Light (or as we call it Piss Poor 'Lectric) gets around to our circuit last every damned time. I know for a fact that it was ONE CRUMMY TRANSFORMER FUSE that was the culprit and without even trying I could narrow it down to 2 different ones that could be it. If I went out and stopped at each I could even have given them the friggin pole numbers. But I digress. Not much in the way of real damage here. Very few trees down and zero wind damaged structures. Irene was a fizzle as hurricanes go and I'd rather prepare for the worst and have that happen than blow it off then holy shit it's a fucking cat 5 100 miles inland!

0 You'll have to turn on the TV and catch up to what's been destroyed inland due to floods all over New England from NJ on up to Vermont then. Fizzle only on wind, the rains caused flooding and lots of damage.

0 Vermont lost a few covered bridges. It was a little windy and some rain but no power outage here. I am kinda protected by hills on the east, north and south, its wide open to the west and I watch the sun go down over the hills and far away. I hope everyone did as well this time around. I hate to say it but winter is just around the next bend.
Gimme dat filet-0-fish............gimme dat feesh.

It's all the well really since I live in Pennsylvania where the seasons are: almost winter...winter...still winter....road construction. |
