MMpphhhh, Thorry it'th hard talking when you hab teeth mithing....!

OK, The list was what I originally put in the envelope to send to Kate in Maine last summer, it was to remind me of what I'd put in there for the customs label. But, as it was a Birthday parcel it got a bit big and I had to box it instead!!

Tooth cleaners were those little interdental brushes you can buy, which, I hasten to add, were not part of the 'present list'!!

And, if I'd kept to the original list.......it would've cost me a few quid to send instead of the £17!!

I think the post staff make the prices (and rules) up as they go along. It is so complicated now to send anything.
We hardly bother posting to Australia because of the expense! Mark buys his nephews their birthday/christmas presents on Austrialian eBay.

I post birthday cards to my uncle with a coin stuck in it that he would find amusing. He saves them either in his coin collection OR brings them back to spend Tease Last month I went to post his card and (they always ask) I said yes there was a coin in the card (like every year). The girl at the desk insisted I put a customs label stating the card contained a £2 coin.
Surprise! He hasn't had it Devil

Couple of weeks ago (Wednesday) I went to Southampton city post office during a shopping trip. Posted my aunts birthday card (with a Olympic coin this time) no customs label insisted upon....my aunt got the card 5 days (Monday) later and that has to be the fasted yet this time of year in West Virginia. Her birthday wasn't until the following friday.
At the same time I sent a 'large envelope' 2nd class to my friend Liz. I told the girl at the desk they were 'vests' for poorly guinea pigs at a rescue centre in London. The girl checked the envelope size in a slot they use now, squeezing it through 'Ah that fits the lower size ok'
She charged me 70pence.
2nd class is likely to take anything up to a week I discovered in the past.
The following evening I got a text thanking me for the envelope of dressings!

I can only think that girl put more stamps on the envelope to get it to Liz on a next day.

NOW? Has any one managed to get a Kinder Egg into the States yet? Whistle

What's a Kinder Egg?

My friend Karen gave me a 20 pound note (paper) for Christmas and I can't cash it to spend on myself! At the bank, it'll cost me $17 US to cash that. I can probably go to the airport but that's not going to happen unless I happen to have to go to one. You'd think exchanging money between friendly countries would be easier!

You'll have to wait and see what a Kinder Egg is !! Wink
Us English folk aren't telling.

I remember a few years ago sending you and Matt those T-Shirts. I sent them both at the same time from the same counter at the same post office, one Surface Mail, and the other Air Mail, to see what time difference they would have...and they both arrived with you at exactly the same time. With a difference of about £5 on the shipping costs.
I think up to a kilo is OK and the minute you go over the kilo they add big money onto it.

Well here, it's all a rip off.

We still have those shirts and Matt wears them both. I can wear one like a dress Rolleyes

I opened the ruler yesterday, had to put it back into the plastic casing right away. The paper pirates were really delicate and peeling off, so back in for safety they went. Were these things buried in the back of some place, forgotten and you dug them up? I got a feeling they're quite old, but I Heart them anyway!

I think I still have every thing you ever sent me.

I Heart the slippers though! They are the most comfortable ones I've had in a long time! I usually just ruin a pair of socks because I never found slippers I liked! Thank you! Kiss

I know the problem well. My aunt used to send dollars for the kids for presents. We put them to one side and if we heard anyone was going to the States we asked them to swop on the exchange rate at the time.
Easy for us- everyone tries to go to Orlanda for some reason wot

Now? Do you know anyone coming here? A trolleydolly? Going past an airport to trade with someone flying? Look for an English person! Save it for when we visit and we can 'do a deal' Rolleyes

I've a drawer full of foreign money.
English Pounds
Jamaican dimes
Bahamian $5

I'll just keep my pounds with the others as souvenirs Smile

Kinder Eggs are on their way. Be interesting to see if they arrive, or if customs get to them.

In reply to your earlier question, the ruler and the rubber have been hanging around waiting to be posted for about 4 years, I didn't forget, I just never got around to it!! I'm surprised it didn't perish instead of the paper being a bit delicate.

You have cemented my thoughts on how crazy you are. Heart
I can't believe you had them around that long.
I'm going to look up Kinder Eggs now Tongue

I gotta get the Easter Egg stuff bought and sent to Gloria! I want it to get there on time. Let's hope it does not take 3 months to send a package to Mexico again!
