These are the "before" photos. Actually, they are the part way torn apart photos. I would be alot farther along if I didn't have to clean up half her shit and move the bed by myself.

Popcorn ceiling. Got that down and am now working on spackling and sanding.

LOL I see you focused that last pic on the textured ceiling! Are you going to rip that down and replace it? Probably be easier than trying to sand it all off. Or you just going to paint over it until you get a bug to remodel again in the future?

I posted above the ceiling pic that I took it off......I wet it down and scrape it off with a putty knife. Did that yesterday and finished sanding and spackling today. It's going to be a bigger project than I was going to do, but why go halfway with it all ripped apart. Next step is painting ALL the woodwork white in there. Prime and paint. Also want to do the carpet but we will see about $$$. That will be done last so we'll see what the budget can handle.

What is the plan there? How old is your daughter, I guess not old enough to turn up with her own tin of paint?
I've been thinking of decorating Christines room to make it more acceptable to house guests.

How much of a mess with sanding that ceiling after scraping it down? Crap, it had to be a ton of dust in there! I know when doing sheetrock it's awful, I can't imagine how much for that. I'd just as soon rip it down and resheetrock!

Bad idea. Very hard to get off dry, pretty easy wet, but very messy. I put down plastic in the whole room. wet down a small section at a time, scrape off with putty knife, then when the whole ceiling is done, wipe down with we cloth. It evens things out. The hardest part is the corners where it meets the wall. I am doing crown moulding, so at least I don't have to get it perfect.

She is 14. She helped wipe down all the walls after I did the ceiling but I don't want her doing the painting. She'll help move back in etc.

With the wetting and scraping, there is little to no sanding.

The photos are from my phone so they don't do the room justice. The walls are gray and the accent color is a bright fushia not the reddish it looks like. Still have artwork to add to the walls but the bulk of the work is done.
New chandelier. Scraped the ceiling. It looks like something is on it, but it's just a reflection I think.
   
New dresser from Ikea that I put together. 5 hours and 4,000 pieces.
   
Made the matching headboard and window box.
   
Painted the woodwork white. Will be changing out handles for black ones.
   
Another shot of the bed and the crown moulding we added.
