So sorry to hear the sad news. My condolances to you. I can say that it WILL get better in time but it will take time. Make sure you grieve.
If I had known grandkids were this much fun, I would have had them first.

Kim, I am terribly sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what it is like, especially this time of the year. As I'm sure Joan already said, if there is anything we can do, please don't hesitate to let us know. Again, my deepest sympathy and regrets.

Just so you know, this is what should arrive at Kim's by Thursday from all of us. It's a plant that will last for years.

That's beautiful. It'd take about two weeks for me to kill it.
Support mental health care... or I'll kill you. Crazy

Same for me. I can't seem to keep roses in NJ. I grew gorgeous ones in NY. Dana sent me a pot of these tiny roses once and it lasted about two months.

Dear Kim
I have a story for you and this may or may not make you feel better. Five years ago my Father died but it is not the fact that he died but the way he did. He was 67 yrs old and when he was 58 was diagnosed with throat cancer , he quit smoking when he was 30 yrs old so it did surprize us. Anyways he fought the good fight and beat it, it came back, he beat it etc. This went on for awhile and he decided to get out and tour the country in a winnebago for a few years. he was a truck driver by trade and had been on many roads all across the country but never really enjoyed it like he did when he retired. He sent me many a postcard from California. Oregon, the Grand Canyon. Arizona (where he wintered) and in every town he stopped in he sent me something.
Towards the end he came back home sold the camper and bought a little house not far from me where I went over on my lunch breaks and shot the shit with him. I saw how he whittled away and it was noticable to me but I kinda kept it to myself and just kept him busy.
The last year of his life he was in a nursing home for a few months and he actually got out and went home again for awhile. In the end me and my step-mother decided to put him in hospice care as it was getting hard to bath him, feed him and he was always trying to do it himself and would get pissed because he was so helpless.
I will never forget the night we brought him in, it was cold out in October that year, rain/sleet mix and kinda windy. We got him settled and as I was getting ready to leave he called me over and says "open my window son" i said what are you nuts! Its fucking freezing out! The hospital would kill me. He got all pissed and I had not seen him get mad like that in a few years. after listening to him thrash and bitch I opened the window a bit maybe 4 inches. He calmed right down and called me over and said "Thank You I gotta go now" ..........I sat in the chair next to him and he died 5 min later.
I am glad your husband did not have to go through that and as I think back on it I hope your husband found an open window also.

I never told anyone but my wife my brothers and sister.
Gimme dat filet-0-fish............gimme dat feesh.
