So as you know we've been trying to catch a feral/somewhat feral cat. That's going just fine. He's taking his sweet time warming up to me.
Today we're out riding and we were going to the store from our ride in the park. There's a cut through trail to the church which leads through the lot to the stores. Nice, no street riding.
So, we're going along in the lot and there is this small little cat coming toward us. She goes to the edge of the parking lot and is still following us to the cut through of small woods. Naturally I have to stop. Well she's adorable and friendly. And skinny.
She's letting me pet her and pull her tail and scritch her ears. We get back on the bikes to head toward the store and as I'm locking the bikes I see her at the edge of the lot looking at us.
Guess what I bought in the store instead of what I wanted? Cat food and paper bowls. I went to her, set her up with food and my water. Matt was petting her and got brave and picked her up. She let him.
Apparently she's someone's cat that was dumped.
So, we hightailed it home and got the truck. Put my bike in the back just in case I had to hunt her down between the two lots. Grabbed the carrier and went to get her.
I went to her food, and she buried it to "hide" it from other animals. How cute is that?
So in my best kitty call voice I called out to her. There she was!
So she was on the other side of the fence and it was kind of hard to get her over the fence so I went around to get her. She came right up to me.
She's full of deer ticks. I'm full of the fuckers. I grabbed her. She let me. She's got full teats. So now we're looking around for kittens. I don't think there are any surviving kittens. Her bags are small and she would be with them if there were any left. I'm betting some asshole dumped her because she was pregnant.
So we got her home, got the dog crate from the shed and put her in there in the yard under the pergola. I set her up with some food, water and a towel and got the flea stuff (Frontline) on her. I left her there a couple of hours to make sure things were hunky dory. She settled in nicely and we went inside to settle the dogs down and set her crate up inside. Good thing we have two giant crates!
So, she's now settling in inside the house. She'll live in that crate for a week to let all the animals here already get used to her.
