Seriously, I RAN for the house. We had this problem 5 years running. We build a fire to keep them away. What really sucks is it's 100 degrees out and you gotta sit in a fire and smoke. Like it's not hot enough!? Someone's got a lot of standing water by you. It was so bad here you couldn't even go out without protection and little good that did too. They won't spray here. Fucking hippies think it will kill the wildlife. Um.... I am pretty sure they've made advances in bug spray that will actually be welcomed by the wildlife. You think they want to get bit up like that? I called my local health dept who put me in touch with the mosquito patrol out here. I had to give them samples, which they never picked up (bastards) but basically, they wont' do a goddamn thing unless someone dies of West Nile Virus first. Yes, they actually told me that. Now, mosquitoes also carry encephalitis which is transmissible from animal to animal through mosquito bites and also to humans. Apparenlty they're not too worried unless your brain blows out of your skull and you die of that too. Check for ANY size area of standing water and dump it. standing water even if it's clean "looking" is a breeding ground for eggs. Soil that is very wet to almost mud is a place of breeding for the diseased bastards as well. Check your neighbors *yeah, be nosy and look over the fence* and see what they got lying around. I went so far as to count the amount of houses in the area and made up little flyers and put them in all the mailboxes telling people to keep standing water to zero. I have a feeling my neighbor was the culprit. Ever since Dave moved in and started taking care of her and the property, the mosquito population went way down this year. It really sucks when you can't enjoy your own yard.
I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head

Yes we do all that, but we live on 2 1/2 acres of which 1 1/2 is heavily wooded. We've also had extreme rain this year which is especially good for mosquitoes. We have a mosquito magnet and the thing has been getting plump full. Unless there is full hot sun outside I cannot go in my yard. |
