0 He does - traffic on his route today is a little weird if the one road I'm thinking of (don't know the number) coming into and out of Harrisburg running north / south isn't too congested. It should be an easy jaunt for him if it is one he takes and clear sailing. He may hit these on off peak times too but I've never seen that road not congested. It's bumpy as hell too.
Do you have a special floor that floats for the eggs? Do you hang them like sailors used to hang hammock's in their racks? Would hanging them work?
I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head
0 Here's how it works:
Eggs are loaded onto pallets like these The difference here is that the pic shows a divider board placed on the top where we don't use one. Just plain old eggs on top! The top one and a half layers are shrink wrapped. The pallets are loaded onto the trailer with the sides having 4 stacks abreast facing forward/backward, 2 pallets wide in the trailer. Each pallet contains 10,800 eggs. Or by case count, 30 cases. Each case is 30 dozen eggs. If you load 30 pallets then it's 10,800 eggs X 30 = 324,000. There's no special thing about the trailers. Just plain old refrigerated trailers. We use locking load bars (load locks) to keep the eggs from moving around. 2 bars are placed vertically (one behind each row of 15 pallets) and one is placed horizontally behind the 2 vertical bars. That's it! The rest is to simply not drive like a nutball. The next time I pick up a load I'll have to take a few pics and post them. Dunno which road you are thinking Twitch but from the plant to Harrisburg I run PA 25 w - PA 225 s - PA 147 s - US 322 e into Harrisburg then Cameron St past the Farm Show Complex all the way to Berryhill St which goes right to the dock I deliver to. The busy assed road running north and south through Harrisburg is I-81. The other that splits from 81 is I-83 which goes on down through Harrisburg to York and continues on to Baltimore, MD.

0 I think its the one going from York to Harrisburg. Not sure, only know of it from driving it one bike weekend at York and from my ex sister-in-law using it and bitching about it for work commuting.

0 That would be I-83 then. We're north of Harrisburg so I don't end up on 83 unless I'm going to York or down to the D.C. area. OR using just the first 4 or so miles to connect to 283 going to Elizabethtown/Rheems/Marietta.
Since we closed our freezer operation in Elizabeth at the end of September, we've been taking all our frozen product bound for DC and the New England area to Halls warehouse in South Plainfield, NJ. It's kind of a mixed blessing. The minus is that we must travel I-287 s from I-78 and that stretch can be a real clusterfuck depending on the time of day. The plus is that the folks at Halls are pretty good about getting you in and out of there quickly. Normally they get me in and out in an hour or less. If there is one of our trailers there empty it's just a matter of dropping mine and grabbing the empty. That can take as little as 20 minutes total on the property. If not and they unload me, they usually get right on it as soon as I hit the dock and don't fuck around. Today I'm running a load of frozen to them and then going up to Elizabeth to pick up some refrigerated product coming back to the plant. I'll bet that I spend less time at Halls than I do waiting for whatever I'm bringing back!

0 I stopped at dunkin doughnuts a couple of weeks ago, I got a a big coffee and one of those big n toasty sandwiches. Now the big n toasty was pretty good, but it was not like on tv where they are frying up the eggs to slide onto the bread. It was kinda prepackaged shit, and the egg was one of those things that was made a month ago 3 states over. I'll never waste my money on another one.
Oh, I guess my point was that I thought about LK hauling eggs and how he had told us about the precooked, prepackaged eggs for shit like that. I was thinking that the guts of my big and toasty could have gone to me, or maybe some fucking prisoner for his breakfast. Nah, the prisoner probably got a fresh omelet.
