Well last night went by quite uneventful until I yelled last call for the dogs so we can go to bed - this was around 11 PM. I open the door, there's a rabbit out there, it runs, both dogs run, bunny hides and dogs get into a fight.

Goliath again got the shit end of this one. Remember two years ago when Daisy bit off his ear? Well, she didn't manage to do such a clean job of it this time and we wound up in the emergency vet with him.

They wound up having to lop off half the left ear.

We didnt' get home until after 4 AM and I'm exhausted.

We had locked Daisy in her crate before going because she was very wound up still and I didnt' want to chance her tearing apart a cat.
We pull up and i hear her scratching the door - bitch. She destroyed her crate and got out. It took her another hour to calm down and I finally fell asleep around 6 AM.

Matt's going to send me over pictures of the messy ear before the surgery when he gets a chance. I took them while waiting for the vet and during the very short time the bleeding stopped. I've got a rag without a single spot of white left on it the ear bled so much.

Goliath is 16 years old now and you'd think this shit would stop. I will never have two 'bully' breeds together again. There are too many people who tell me the same kind of stories about fighting like that out of the blue.

Well I managed to not sleep during the day but I did just take it easy and keep a good eye on him to make sure he didnt' destroy anything or start it bleeding.

I gotta go out today for a bit but I think he'll be OK now.

What I forogt to mention, when we were there, there was a poster for a benefit for my regular vet. I asked the vet there what that was about and it turns out he's had inoperable brain tumor for some time now and it's getting bad. We might go to the benefit. He's by far the best vet I have ever had the pleasure to take care of my animals and it's going to be hard on all his clients when he goes. He's young too. I've used him since he's fresh out of vet school.

Poor Goliath. He doesn't need this from Daisy at his age.
So who's next for the all nighter in the hospital/vets?

Well, I'm still home baby sitting him. Making sure he doesn't shake his head and open the wounds. There's a small drain left to make sure fluid flows out of the ear but if he shakes his head, it bleeds.

So, my allergy shots have been put off for a bit and I'm going again on Friday. By then he should be safe enough to leave alone for a couple of hours in the morning.

I'm going to sneak him back to the emergency vet like she asked instead of taking him to my vet. She's not going to charge me for the follow up where my vet will absolutely charge me no less than $200 that I cannot afford now. Not for a follow up anyway.

Wow, she really tore his poor ear apart! Goliath looks like a little old lady with his head all bandaged, bless him.

Hope he's on the mend now

He's doing remarkably well now. The bandages are off and the swelling is down to half the size. It's starting to itch him now too. Poor guy tries to shake his head but it hurts so much!

Daisy keeps admiring her handiwork too. She's a rotten bitch!
