Your Newfie is unusual to say the least!

Many dogs will prefer privacy toileting but I've never heard of a dog not sniffing another dog's ass. It's how they greet each other, "know" each other and all that. And as far as ass licking, he has to! Unless you wipe his ass clean, that's how they keep clean. Maybe he found a way to do that in private too? Smile Now that would be a great trick to teach a dog! Lick yourself in private please. I'd love for Goliath to do that. Turns my stomach hearing him slurping himself. Barf

Maybe thats why my Golden Retriever constantly has his nose in his ass, he's cleaning it for him Barf. I honestly never notice him slurping and chewing his ass like the other dogs. And he'll sniff another dog briefly, but then he just walks away. He doesn't go to town down there like I've seen other dogs do lol.

I don't know if this works, but anyway it says it's icky to let a dog lick your wound and their saliva has bacteria.
