I agree. I could live with being home more. I spent about two years working part time (not by choice) before getting the job I have now. I love my job, but I find that on occasion I miss the extra free time to get stuff done.
Lets go in on some Powerball tickets or something.

Is anyone else a state or federal employee? My state is going to take almost a month of furlough days next year. It is very close to 1/10 of my salary. Also, they are not going to pay part of my costly insurance, so that is another chunk. Next year will suck.

Do federal employees or other state's employees have to do this? Is it time for me to move and donate my house?

Folks on welfare piss me off. When the economy is better I will go back to having a soft spot in my heart for them, but right now they piss me off.

California state employees have been going through that unpaid 'vacation' time for years. It hasn't hit us Fed level employees yet *knocks on wood*

Yeah, but they get to live in California.

I think the Feds should furlough Julie. Permanently.

I looked it up. No federal furloughs, but 15 states furlough their employees.

I was born and raised in California and lived there till I was 41 and I can say in all honesty that I wouldn't want to go back. Too crowded, way too expensive and the summers in Sacramento are miserably hot. Forget about living in San Diego again, that's so fucking expensive only the wealthy and welfare recipients can live there anymore.

I do miss the trees though.

Not until I googled it... that little fly speck east of Fresno? How'd you end up in Georgia?

That's what I'm talking about.
I do a lotto and a mega with a chick at work and on and off with others when they want to get in on the action.
The only thing is that there is the twister clause, or more of a contract actually.Biggrin

Oh to give up work. There is so much I'd like to do, but the 9-5.30 slot really gets in the way.
I notice my parents are busier than ever now they retired though.

Yup. It's a tiny town. The Owens Valley is God's country. I have been to Sacramento and Sutter's Mill.

I moved here with a husband (number one). It was so cheap to live here I stayed. Now I'm disgusted because Atlanta is encroaching on my territory because they built income-dependent apartments in my county. Surprisingly, the taxes have doubled since that happened and the crime rate is creeping up considerably. I guess it is easier to steal than to work.

They're trying to do the same here. They want to "spread out the projects" to the "better communities". This was Jon Corzine's idea. I don't know if it has gone into effect or it's been tabled and (hopefully) nixed, but there was a huge uproar over this two years ago.

I'm at the Jersey Shore. Do you know how many sex offenders are living near the boardwalk?! Dozens. They let them out of jail and give them apartments on the friggin beach. Vendors all have posters and alerts and photos of the fiends and the cops on speed dial.
