I can't believe there are PROFESSIONAL trainers out there who get away with that shit, but they do. I've witnessed it. Granted, they don't strangle the dogs TO DEATH, but it's still a horrible, cruel practice. It's using done by literally 'hanging' the dog (or puppy) with its leash, usually just lifting the front feet off the ground, but sometimes the rear ones too.
I should have turned the bitch in I saw doing that in CA one time. She was a pretty popular trainer too. The dog I saw her do it with was probably a 5-6 month old Australian Cattle Dog. Crazy.
I took my 200 lb alpha male to this trainer who has been doing it for years and thats the way he trained him to walk on a leash. Otherwise the damn dog would have dragged me out into traffic. Obviously you wouldn't need to do that with a smaller dog, but it's the only thing that worked for him.
Regardless of how large the dog was, it could have been done another way, Sally. I'm sorry your dog had to go through that.
I'm not. He didn't suffer any injuries and at least he walks now without killing the both of us trying to get to a cat.
