I switched to the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT , I got it because I wanted the best option available to have street speed and performance and cargo/towing ability in bad weather. It has plenty of space for all my business hauling(about the same as explorer) its extremely fast (6.4 V8 Hemi) and it has a strong 4wd system.
The best 4wd system in SUV's right now goes to the Toyota 4runner TRD pro, I had the audi sq5 before my f150 and the quattro system broke on it in the snow volkswagen system is based on the same design because they are the parent company. I wouldn't use any of the volkswagen suvs/cross overs heavily in snow.
KIA is releasing a suv that the size of the tahoe/yukon called the telluride it is looking very promising and starts at 31k it might be a good option. I also agree the european brands nickel and dime you for features and the price surpasses the american cars usually.
I was looking at Jeep too, but I need MORE than 71" of cargo space when the seats are folded down.
All the newer Ford F series are having transmission issues because they are putting 6 cylinder engines in them unless you pay extra for the 8, but if you're going to have a truck that works you really need a manual transmission. NO ONE is offering manual anymore and that's a damn shame. Lots of recalls on the new F series for the trannys not holding up. No shit.
Funny thing, I have a friend who is an engineer at Ford. I need to have him start telling them their latest designs are not holding up to the task!
I have no idea what you're talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on it's head
