There's no real thought put into the road treatment these days. PA is AFU too but not quite as bad as NJ. I seems that NJ is all or nothing when it comes to pre-treat and after snowfall salting.
PA is on a travel ban/restriction kick now. They aren't as holy shit heavy on the brine and salt but they will treat 2 days before any foul weather will even get here!
You know all of this is in part due to idiots who don't know how to drive on slick roads but still get out there, cause havoc and then threaten to sue because it's "the highway department's fault". Many of them are people I like to call "4 wheel slide" drivers. They think that since they have 4 wheel drive that they can drive 70 mph on slick roads and be fine.
