Just got back from another trip to Cornwall and another trip to see the Owls. After the flying display and the park was winding down for the evening we witnessed one of the keepers doing some training with a Woodland Owl.
Then we saw a keeper who remembered us from April! I commented 'Fluffy' the Barn Owl 'threw up' but it wasn't a pellet more like lumpy custard. so we got to see 'Fluffy' have supper of 2 mice, each one head first with a pause while she had a think, tail and hind feet stuck out of her mouth. This was to replace the day old chicks they all normally get- the yellow custard was the feathers, which upset her tummy.
The owl next door woke up from his trance and looked totally amazed to see a huge rat in his pen (as if Father Christmas had been).
He kept looking round and then down at it until he decided it really was his.
