UPDATE:
After auditioning several drummers (some good...some stinkers) we found our match right in our own back yard (so to speak)!
He works with our one friend who played bass for one of Forrest's old bands. Stosh just happened to ask him if he knew of a drummer who was looking for a band and he said "Yeah...me." He came on down and jammed with us for about 2 hours. We still had 2 other guys to audition, just to be fair to them, and sent him off with lots of smiles and good comments.
The one never showed and the other was damn good but didn't really have an attitude that made us feel confident.
After the guy left we took a vote and Drew won unanimous support!
Kinda an odd thing is that for all intents and purposes most would think that he wouldn't fit when you consider that Steve is 61...Forrest is 56...Jack just turned 55 and I'm 54 and Drew is 19! BUT......he hangs out with folks 30 and up, prefers classic rock over newer material, tends bar part time at an Elks Lodge (older patrons) and works with Stosh who is 55.
The guy has a fantastic attitude and does his homework. He told us he downloaded the songs we gave him to use for audition and listened to each one a minimum of 10 times then sat at his kit and worked on them prior to auditioning. Gotta love someone with that kind of work ethic.
He also does some DJ work on the side and so is familiar with much of the material on our playlist so he should be up to speed in no time at all!
Next week we intend to snap some band pics and see if we can record 3 tunes for a demo. Forrest has a nice porta studio digital recorder which can do up to 16 tracks. We've mated it with my Mackie mixing console and it works great.
Who needs a studio when you have all the gear between band members?
I'll post the tracks once we do a final mix and upload them to PodSnack.
FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!!!!
