My dad goes to the dentist by himself now (he is 73) but as we kids we all went together as a family not because it was to reassure us, but to reassure Dad that if we could go and not complain he would have to put on a brave face. He has been going to the same dental practice for 40 years and the staff know his fears. My mum can no longer go with him and she call the practice when he has to go (just had lots of work) to say he is on his way.
Where did this fear come from?
My gran took him to a 'dentist' when he was a child who pulled 4 teeth. When they got home on the bus he was still bleeding.
Then my gran found out the dentist was infact self trained and......Eric will like this...
A butcher and pulled teeth as a hobby!
Rhu Love , Its actually funny , I can slaughter and be elbow deep in blood and guts , BUT when it comes to the dentist I am Petrafied! See it all stems from 8 years ago , I broke a tooth ( bosten baked beans ) and it sems today was the day that the MAN dentist grew a set of tits. well this lady all of 5' 90lbs soakin wet came in to pull the tooth , and the tiny lady SNAPPED it off inside the gum , whiles in the process of tryin to retrieve the broken half in my gum , she managed to panic and brake two more crowns off. so after me being in totaly shock of what had transpired , she then proceeded to tell me she had to call the dentist in as she was just a student. so the Dentist comes in Re numbs me , cuts my gum about an inch , removes the broken half of the tooth , then proceeds to cover the young ladies ass and said the other two teeth had huge cracks in them and that they would have broken anyway. So by this time I am in total pain , bleeding and PISSED! so with that said this is why I hate the dentist.....
