All reports claim tendonitis and they retired the horse. I was looking forward to this race too.
You only get one shot at the Triple Crown too. They could heal him. To do it right, it would take nearly a year, but he won't be able to race in the next Triple Crown.
I've brought horses back from blown tendons. If you can get them to heal up right, they are like cement and are real hard to blow again. Apparently this horse didn't fully blow it, it is a little bit swollen so they're not taking any chances.
If I were the owner, I'd heal him up real good, bring him up slow and just race him in small races because you can see it's what that horse loves to do.
