I am sure if it was a taxidermy squirrel or some animal that not many people take as a house pet it would have not been a issue and people would have given a crap less. Instead of worrying about a stuffed dead cat, people concerning themselves with living animals and maybe even some live humans might be a bit better.
I still find taxidermied wild animals to be creepy as fuck too, and it's not the sort of thing I want in my own home. and judging from other people's comments out there it seems that I'm not alone in this. so you're somewhat wrong about people not caring had it been a wild animal.
of course, people who hunt and stuff like that tends to feel differently. *shrugs*
However, I do agree that we do need to worry more about animals and human beings who had been abused, instead of worrying about those who died a natural death.
