I'm sure they are so used to tourists too. But, IMO they have to be fed to some degree because if times are lean and tourists are there, lions are going to try to eat. Now, stupid arrogant tourists - how about those?
I've had to rescue a couple of people from bison and moose here out in Wyoming when I went out to Yellowstone and Custer State Park. Some Swedish (sounded like it anyway) woman stopped on rt 16 on the way home over the Big Horns to let her kid out of the car to pet the horse. Jesus H Christ! That thing would have killed that child and I grabbed the kid, brought her back to the RV and told the mother off. Hopefully she understood SOME of the English I was spewing!
Custer State Park - stupid Japanese and their cameras. Mom and infant in arms walks over to a grazing cow with her calf for a photo. The herd started rumbling, cow was PISSED and I grabbed the two of them and shuttled them to their car pronto. Idiots. And they were looking at me like I was nuts until the herd ran past the vehicle, which I was cowering behind until they passed! We were all very lucky. On another day a bull broadsided a whole truck full of Japanese because they just HAD to disobey the rules of staying on the road and not drive into the fields to get a closer look. Now that was funny.
