A hot towel like they do in the barber shops should be used for five minutes before you shave. Just soak a towel in extremely hot water, as hot as your hands can stand it, wring it out well and wrap it on the whole area you're going to shave.
The shave cream you use matters. Try hair conditioner instead. Something thick.
Then try using Witch Hazel on your face after you shave instead of whatever you're using as after-shave.
Matt has the same problem. He gets red bumps all over. My tricks work for him.
Oh and your skin is very sensitive to how sharp the blades are. You have to change them more often than others would. That's another cause of irritation.
Next time you have to shave try those tricks and see if it helps.
