You know what pisses me off? / Rant Thread - Gunnen4u - 02-17-2012
Why not have a rant thread? When I was in the service, I could compile a small book weekly of the shit I noticed and that pissed me off. Now, not so much.
Unfortunately, there is no escaping stupid:
We have one of the ugliest, dysgenic, fattest people in our Technical Writing class. I feel somewhat bad for her given the hand she was dealt in the card game of life (we cannot particularly hate people based on that alone), but, however, she has no business being in an advanced writing class, much less college. This is what fucking pissed me off. I have to wonder if she will *pass* anyhow despite the obvious shortcomings in her intelligence. I had the gift of editing her paper today, and by the bleeding wounds of Christ, it was terrible. And that is to say nothing of most of the others who also cannot write for shit. I may not display the best prose on this forum, or in other mediums, but fuck if I don't throw 150% effort into my writing for school, with appropriate results following thereafter.
Perhaps everyone else is really just that mediocre or stupid, and the system really does make things convenient for them. Got to love the college market I guess: make money from whoever you can, even if it is obvious most have no business being there. I am willing to bet quite a bit on the fact my tuition payment (well, really, the VA's) went to partially subsidizing her presence as a mockery of education, or anyone else for that matter.
Peer-editing the papers of my classmates has always been something of a cause for high blood pressure. I just want to take all of their papers and put them through the shredder, and make them keep writing till they find hand in something at least worth wiping my ass with.

What *is* technical writing? Description of mechanical objects or scientific processes? I remember someone at another forum saying she did this for a living and it's apparently fairly lucrative but I never understood what the hell it is.
I work with the nicest woman on the planet but sometimes (and this is true for all of us) she's kind of dim. I wasn't in the best mood one day this week and I was trying to show her how to do a particular transaction in one of our very complicated systems and I told her to put in the part number. She asks "for the asset?" Well, what the hell else are we talking about? LOL I said "no, lets check out some shoes." Sigh.

I'm not exactly the most eloquent with language and I admit it, but I know an imbecile when I read it. My friend is a teacher in the city and sometimes we get to help her with homework from the kids (high school). It's amazing how stupid these kids are and it's all attributed to laziness on the previous teachers. They'll pass kids just to get rid of them it seems.
My local newspaper - I can't even read it anymore. Goddamn if they don't have the local grade school writing for them! And when did "pleaded" become proper instead of plead? I hear it on all the news, read it in local rags and I'll bet a dollar it's going on in the courtrooms.
It's "He plead guilty." Not, "He pleaded guilty."
What I do find is that my butchering of the language has some benefits when writing to government officials or trying to get a point across in some "official" capacity to a business or something of the like.

I reluctantly set up a Farce.....uh Facebook page for my band today. I hate that fucking site but it WILL generate fans who will come to our shows.
I much prefer a free standing website (which I have linked to the farcebook page) with all our info there. Our cards will feature the website and if people want to follow us on facebook then so be it.
Speaking of that shittyassed facebook......what pisses me off the most there is these dumbassed people who don't even bother to check out your profile info and still just beg to be your "friend".
Yeah...ok......I have LOTS in common with a liberal mush headed college girl in California who is into metrosexual guys and boy bands.

Didn't you post somewhere here that you caved and got an account?
LK, I have that stupid thing for my sites / business, and Matt's and it does nothing to generate squat. Maybe the band will fare better but our friend's band doesn't get anything out of their page either.
Twist, I hate that shit with businesses too. There's a whole field of jobs dedicated to social networking now. Big businesses hire people to just sit on their ass all day posting on facebook and twitter. I can't stand it.
