what do you like about the Red Hat folks over the rest of the field?
Stability combined with ease of use. I can give it to someone who knows nothing about Linux and they can use it comfortably. Don't get me wrong, I like other flavors as well:
Fedora, CentOS, RHEL, Gentoo, Debian, Arch, Mint, Slackware (First linux I ever experienced was a shell account on a Slack server), Knoppix, OpenSUSE, Damn Small Linux, and Mandriva. A few years ago I would have taken Mandriva over any of them, however... almost exactly two years ago they lost their top 5 or 6 developers. Since then they've tanked a lot. Its still good, but if I go back I'll go to Mageia, a Mandriva fork.
