I have had motorcycles since I was a kid. I got rid of my last dirt bike a few years ago, and my Harley a year or two before that. I'm pretty much done with them.
That old Kawasaki is the same exact bike that I had when I was 18, bought it brand new and smashed it all to hell. So the Kaw has some nostalgic value to me and I would probably end up keeping it.
But, really what I want is an old junker, about 500cc nothing really great, nothing expensive, nothing really good. Next summer I'm planning on a road trip, 2 weeks, old bike, cheap bike, medium size, decent gas mileage, enough power to cruise at highway speed. I'm going for see how far I can get in 2 weeks. If the bike breaks down and I can't fix it along the side of the road I will sell it to anyone with a couple of bucks, or take my plates off and kick it down a ravine and thumb my way out to a bus station.
I would like a fairing as I plan on some hard miles till I either get there and back or till I run it into the ground, then if it makes it back home I'm gonna put it right back on CL and unload it.
I've had big, I've had small, I have outgrown the motorbikes, but have not outgrown the wanderlust.
