Beaulieu Bike Day - Rhubarb - 06-26-2011 We took my bike and No1 son's Fazar and Honda CB500 (which is still for sale) We were put in park A which is in the Abby ruins, not much shade. ![]() ![]() ![]() He found a Triumph Speed like the one Sher has just bought in San Francisco. Sadly he has to be 23 to test ride it. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Rhubarb - 06-26-2011 ![]() Not a good photo- sorry The Honda, my bike and the Fazer behing the walkers............oh and the Harleys RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - twisteroo - 06-26-2011 Looks like a lot of nice bike there. I'm currently shopping for a junker. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Rhubarb - 06-27-2011 (06-26-2011, 07:35 PM)twisteroo Wrote: Looks like a lot of nice bike there. Here is the bike just for you! Honda 500CB, billions of miles on the clock, running really well (when it has petrol in it) MOT and tax till Christmas, may need (will need) a back tyre at £80 to get the next ticket. Bargain! *Just noted that Harley has THREE helmets strapped to it- but only has one seat? RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Twitchin Kitten - 06-27-2011 I like that zebra striped HD. the one with 3 helmets is probably friend's helmets. He may have the bike that can take getting a scratch better or has a better place to clip helmets to. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - twisteroo - 06-27-2011 These are my two latest love interests: http://rochester.craigslist.org/mcy/2454042716.html http://buffalo.craigslist.org/mcy/2387402266.html The silverwing is not a silverwing, just a cx500 with a windjammer on it, the kz1000 makes me chub, but I'm working on getting it for 1K, he is now down to $1500 with me. I'd grab that CX up for maybe $500-600. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Twitchin Kitten - 06-27-2011 I took my MC road test on that "silverwing" and you're right, it's only a 500 with a faring on it. You don't think you'll outgrow those small bikes right away? I did and I only used that Honda for the summer until I got my license and my Sportster came in. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Rhubarb - 06-27-2011 The Honda is the same colour has Phil's. I do like the Kwaker ![]() Got a call at almost midnight from Marks little sister in Oz last night. The boys were on winter holiday (forget the seasons are arse-about). She said the new law is you have to have a car licence before you can even apply for a motorbike test. It is to stop youngsters from riding. The driving schools are protesting and say bikers turn out to be better car drivers if they have a bike first, but never the other way. My dad has said that. He said both Mark and I am a better driver for the same reason. Although my brother and Phil both drive their cars like motorbikes, which can make me travelsick, they both overtake park cars by coming up close behind and 'zipping out and zipping back in'. They ride more than drive. RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - Rhubarb - 06-27-2011 Update: No1 son thinks you should stay away from the Silverwing (don't have them over here) he believes the botch fairing is off another bile (which I think you said too) which possibly means dodgy wiring? If you have time, money and get the parts, he said go ahead....... Likes the Kawasaki though, same as me, (which is odd because he doesn't like Kwakers normally) RE: Beaulieu Bike Day - twisteroo - 06-28-2011 I have had motorcycles since I was a kid. I got rid of my last dirt bike a few years ago, and my Harley a year or two before that. I'm pretty much done with them. That old Kawasaki is the same exact bike that I had when I was 18, bought it brand new and smashed it all to hell. So the Kaw has some nostalgic value to me and I would probably end up keeping it. But, really what I want is an old junker, about 500cc nothing really great, nothing expensive, nothing really good. Next summer I'm planning on a road trip, 2 weeks, old bike, cheap bike, medium size, decent gas mileage, enough power to cruise at highway speed. I'm going for see how far I can get in 2 weeks. If the bike breaks down and I can't fix it along the side of the road I will sell it to anyone with a couple of bucks, or take my plates off and kick it down a ravine and thumb my way out to a bus station. I would like a fairing as I plan on some hard miles till I either get there and back or till I run it into the ground, then if it makes it back home I'm gonna put it right back on CL and unload it. I've had big, I've had small, I have outgrown the motorbikes, but have not outgrown the wanderlust. |
