A compression fitting on the fresh water intake on my toilet was a bit crooked and it leaked, and the wax ring had a slight leak. So on my way home from work I picked up a new brass ring and replaced it, that stopped the water leak there. I was about to pull the toilet up and put a new wax ring on and came up with a better idea, I went in the cellar and used a hair dryer to slightly warm up the pipe, then retightened the screws holding down the the shitter. It worked! After 10 flushes no more leaks.
On a side note I put the old shitter in the breezeway yesterday and went to work putting on the new one. I ran out to the garage to get some steel wool to clean the copper pipe and there is my 4 yr old sitting on the damn thing with his pants around his ankles pushing one out on the it. He had that stupid pushing one out face on and I says "what the heck are you doing!"..........He says "nothin" yeah, nothing all right. Good thing he shits like a rabbit.
