Why? Why is he responsible?

OH - my car isn't going to be there physically! I need to drive it. It's my only ride. He'll use it as photos. I'll make sure though. This is going to void Ford's paint warranty anyway and I'm going to need some kind of "promise" with this.

Looks like I am going to wait till next week to see him anyway. He's not back to the shop yet and they're only open another hour or so.

lol well dont let him get away with using lacquer on it, make sure its a proper baked on enamel and you should be all set. ford dark blue always peels after 9-10 years of heavy exposure, that shit shouldnt, and white holds up well anyways normally.

Good point. Matt said something that this will only take a day which surprised me. Those stupid stickers took two days.

The paint warranty wont be void, in order for a manufacturer to void any parts of the warranty they have to prove beyond doubt that the after market work directly effected and or caused the issue. So you get painted on stripes and your frame rusts within warranty period they still have to honor it because the stripes would have nothing to do with the warranty.

If say you developed a rust bubble right on top or around an area of a painted on stripe then yes ford and tell you to go scratch.

I have looked into this because I am looking on deleting some emissions components on my truck and had to see how it might impact the warranty.

I was talking about the paint warranty, Anthony. The paint warranty has nothing to do with drivetrain warranties. Ford doesn't call it 'Bumper to Bumper' anymore either because it's not specific enough for when they decide to tell people to fuck off.

You take any emissions shit out of your new truck you better have an authorized Ford mechanic do it that is recognized by Ford for after market work. I was told by Ford customer service and the dealer that if I put my own cold air kit in that will void my warranty. The dealer said small shit like that won't affect them honoring it but those are Ford's rules. I have that backed up on the Mustang forum I belong to as well.

I find that is a punk move on Ford's part.

Find someone who can reset the electronics and remove the catalytic converter yourself. You wont' need inspection for like 5 years anyway and you can put it back on or not if it's a diesel. They don't check emissions for diesel at the DMV. The Texaco station in town by you will "inspect" for a fee and pass damn near anything. I used to take my motorcycle there because the pipes wouldn't pass DMV inspection.

Or you can just leave it alone. Smile

Dealers are prevented from voiding a warranty due to an after market add on by Federal law. It is called the Magnuson-Moss act. They would have to prove that the add-on directly affected the failed part. IE: you put a lift kit on your truck and now are wanting warranty work on suspension parts. So a CAI will not void a warranty. Any dealer that claims this is an idiot, ignorant, or just a bully. I'd find a new dealer, one that knows and understands their obligations under the law. Not ignorant twats.

I know you were talking about the paint warranty I was using my adventure into emissions/powertrain warranty as an example as to how I found out about the warranty "rules". I was going to quote the federal bill that protects your rights as a consumer for a warranty in my response but biker said it. Anything covered by a automobile manufacturer warranty has to be honored unless what you have done directly impacts the warranty claim.
