Because most people do not care too much about Africa, to be honest, well, except Africans. I am being serious - we just get the Discovery Channel shows and advertisements to send 65 cents a day to support people and their litters of children.

The Middle East on the other hand, is the firm root and home of an ideology or religion that is quite active in making it's presence known, and blowing things up/hostage taking/other shit, not to mention the political clout they carry over scared white people across the West, shutting down various traditional cultural institutions as free expression, etc, or tying them up in legal fees. I think the intention was to somehow give them all freedom and democracy, and hopefully alter the home regions of the religion we are in conflict with.

Of course, this was fucking stupid, and obviously no one was thinking properly when they decided to embark on this great crusade. Crusade, fuck, at least the Crusaders were serious about things. And what's more, all those fuckfaces who voted for it, either still do, or publicly rail on it for cool points while still supporting it. Look at Obama. An exit from Iraq was going to happen regardless, but he claimed that as some victory (when really, Iraq is now a religious proxy of Iran), while extending the date US forces would operating in Afghanistan.

Don't get me started on the fact that many people made some GOOOOOOD money off private contracting there, both republicans and democrats. And how many others got to get in on the pig trough, especially people I would have no problem driving over a cliff, but instead they get paid $120K a year to walk around with a radio and behave like urban black people.

Since the exit of Bush, I wonder got the money in the spoils system from Obama.

I will say that I have never seen anyone in a position of high authority behave like Obama. Its quite entertaining. Fuck that guy, really. At least I could bear to look at Bush, and despite what a lot of blowhards say, he wasn't very bad across the board like our current Boy King is. You only have to isolate the war issue, and the initial stimulus, perhaps one other issue, and then Bush can be a bad guy. I couldn't begin to number the wonders of the Obama Administration.

Side note on Africa: given how well anything in terms of civilization and advancement works out in that benighted continent, is there a reason to bother? I hear South Africa isn't doing very well, at least not as well as they were or could have been doing? Or anywhere in Africa, really. Perhaps the ones you just don't hear anything about are doing ok.

South Africa and Egypt are pretty much the power houses on the continent. There are other countries that are plodding along with out much bother. Namibia is full of German settlers and is doing ok for a country that is pretty much made up of desert and rust. But in general, the biggest thing most of the continent has going on is eco-tourism and civil war.

..and yes, this place is going down in many ways. No longer the largest producer of gold. Ranked up there as one of the most violent societies that is not at war. Infrastructure is going down. We had serious issues with power supply a couple years back. It seems to have stabilised a little, but nobody is really surprised when power goes down, for what ever reason. Just gets blamed on "load shedding". But popularity for the ruling party is going down. They were pretty close to getting a 2/3s majority with the first "free and fair" election, which would've allowed them to change the constitution and make up shit how ever they wanted. As is they are trying to sneak shit through which is fucked. One that was caught and had a lot of publicity was the "reappropriation of property act". Which they were trying to sell as a more forceful angle on the land redistribution scheme they have going on (basically, they reckon white people came here and fucked the country over, so now white people have to give their land back to the original inhabitants. The largest amount of land in white hands is of course farms. Currently it's being done under a willing buyer, willing seller scheme). How ever, this "property" law sneakily said that anything you own can be taken away and given to somebody else if it is seen to be for the good of the nation. Anything, including your money in the bank.

But with infrastructure going down, and only the people at the top benefiting from their positions of power, the masses are losing faith. Every election has seen them get less and less. There is currently a huge rift in the party, and a lot of people are hoping they're going to split.

Also, we don't just have 2 parties here. It's closer to 30 or something stupid.

Also, I'm impressed that somebody knows who Mugabe is.

Anybody who doesn't know who that Marxist SOB is, needs to go there and just see how one man could take such a wonderful land, with so many natural resources, and totally trash it to the point where it may never recover again.

What that bastard has done to Zimbabwe is a classic example of just why Collectivism of any form, must be stamped out, and believers put in an asylum.

So what made them decide to "free" Iraq, as opposed to any of the countries going down the shitter in Africa, Zim included?

Think of 'expediency over principle' here. By trying to play good guy to the world, the 'so called' good guys are forced to make a decision as to which parts of the world are more important than others. After all, its impossible to clean up everything, because there are only so many resources available.

And the Middle East has something that everyone really needs: oil. You see countries, like people, really aren't equal in importance. Some are more equal than others. And Africa is at the bottom of the 'equality' scale. I'm sorry, but that's the reality of the world.

That's why, as a Real Liberal(in the sense you and most of the world views Liberals), I honestly believe we have no business sticking our nose into other's business, and forcing our ideals on to others. One cannot make the world safe for Liberty, just because we think we know what is better.

So we run around playing Big Brother, ladling out attention to whomever we think deserves attention, and allowing the rest to lay fallow. And in the end we accomplish little to nothing other than irritate everyone.

I'm sorry, but I'm not optimistic about things right now. And for years I have looked at Africa and seen nothing but a festering mess that is doing its level best to drag everyone else in to the shitter with them. And this is being done through the auspices of the UN. That is why we have no business remaining in that worthless organization.

I know I cannot even begin to make excuses for why the First World has bypassed Africa. But Africa is such a basket case. And naturally Collectivism, i.e. European Socialism, Marxism, Fascism, etc, etc, is the main political-economic system in the world, it gets to be the main political-economic system that is supposed to solve the woes of the world, Africa included.

And as long as Collectivism, along with its Keynesian sibling, continue to be looked upon as the way to force equality, nothing is going to change. There will be no equality, no Liberty, no prosperity, no positive future, because everything is predicated on "equality of result" instead of "equality of opportunity."

Have you considered immigrating to Australia, or New Zealand? Were I young again, that is where I would be heading. Or perhaps some out of the way spot, such as Ascension Island, or St. Helena. Because I see another loose repeat of the 1930s, with world war around the corner.

I have several friends who have gone to Aus, and a couple in NZ. Not my choice of destination. If I were to skip out of here it'd probably be to Ireland. But seriously, fuckit. My life isn't bad. As in any part of the world, there are places you avoid, and other places that are fine. Some of my friends had their house in Aus broken into about a month ago, while they were in the house watching TV. You can get fucked over where ever you are, and I don't feel like my daily movements put me in any more danger than I'd have else where.

Personally, I like not sticking your nose in somebody else's business. Survival of the fittest. If you want to fuck up your country, then fuck it up, and go down with it. If you want to invade the one next door, and they can't stop you...well go for it. What we have going on here would be the equivalent of American Indians telling all you white folk to hand the land back. Except thanks to some diseases, they're in the minority. The shit here can't carry on. It's gonna get worse or better. If it gets worse, I'll think about getting out.

From an educated spectator's standpoint, I don't think it's going to get better in South Africa. Especially if you're white., native born there or not.

You're forgetting one thing though. We have AIDS. Ethnic cleansing, Nature's way. I just hope they don't come up with a cure anytime soon.

I wanna visit SA.
Really, I do. There is something therapeutic about seeing how fucked up shit can be, it kinda makes your own problems seem simple.

Yeah PIG, our American indians do try that taking back of the land bullshit, sometimes they succeed, but not very often.
