I bet those fitting are expensive too. They average around $6 per fitting. I got a valve for only $2 more than one I'd have to sweat on. I think if you figure in acetylene, flux, solder, copper pipe and fittings it works out to about the same or close. 0 It was a true tournament! Results will be posted soon. You should have followed my advice and took a day off
I just did my plumbing work with those shark bite things. OMG I LOVE THEM! The only drawback is they spin if you do not anchor them against something. A little duct tape on the spigot will do nicely to keep that from spinning while opening and closing the tap. The spinning is nice for when you're working the pipe though. Don't ask me for pics. It's in the dark part of the basement and it's not "pretty" but with that flex hose inside and copper outside, it was rigged just right for what I need it to do.

0 Gonna be a loooong day today.
Matt and I have doc appts and then we shoot up to mom. She's having surgery (rotator cuff) and she's already being difficult. She has never had surgery before and refuses to take my advice on clothing and other things for leaving the place. Oh and she knows she doesn't like general anesthesia even though she's never had that too! I promised her local is not going to be any picnic either and I'd rather have general because the "aftermath" of the local is pretty brutal too. Hey, but what do I know? I've only had surgery like 15 times. She insists on wearing a bathing suit top instead of a button down shirt to leave. She thinks since it's strapless it will go on easier. Good thing I'll be there to tell her, "I told you." and help her with something easier that I'm bringing for her (she doesnt' know I'm bringing).

0 I had band practice so I just couldn't be there. We start at 11 AM and go till between 3 and 4 PM.
I hope everyone had a good time and racked up lots of points. My entire week looks to be fucked up. They have me coming in at 11 AM and MAYBE my load will be ready to go. Then I have to run to Boyertown and then to Elizabeth. If it's ready I won't be able to roll till 11:15 at the earliest. This translates as follows: 2 hrs to Boyertown puts me there at 1:15, at least 1 hr to unload/reload then a few mins to close up the trailer and get my paperwork current so 1:30 is a likely roll time. 2 - 2 1/4 hrs to Elizabeth making my arrival at 3:45 PM. IF I can find an empty trailer right away I will leave Elizabeth at 4:00 to 4:15. It's a 3 hr ride back from there in good traffic conditions but given the time of day it will likely take 4 or more hrs! So that makes it around 8:15 till I get to the shop to fuel the truck and trailer. Then on to the plant to drop and return to the shop with the tractor to park and complete paperwork. I should leave the shop around 9:30 and get home at 10 PM!!!!!!! Now D.O.T. regulations mandate that I must be off duty for a minimum 10 hours so based on a 9:15 time of going off duty I won't be able to start again until 7:30 AM on Tuesday. Fuckin' A........I like to get going at between 3 and 4 AM! You can bet your ass that I won't get a load starting at 7:30 so I'll be screwed yet again and probably will for the rest of the week. DAMN! Realize that my estimates are based on everything going rather well. One fuckup and it all turns to even bigger shit than it already is.

0 Poor LK. What you describe is exactly why my brother got out of trucking. He was doing long haul to boot. Nothing like getting stranded in another state for a month when things go totally upside down on you!
Spent the whole day up by mom. She had rotator cuff surgery and she made life miserable for everyone. I'm mentally fried. Going to take it easy for the rest of the night then do my gardening tomorrow and other at home things.

0 Well whatta ya know......things took a massive turn for the better today!
I called in to the offfice while on the way down to the truck and they told me the load I ws supposed to haul was cancelled. Now at this point I was expecting the BIG bone but, they said there was a trailer loaded and ready going straight down to Elizabeth and to grab an empty back. That shortened the day considerably! On top of that, when I got to Elizabeth there was an empty just sitting there waiting for me!!!!! I left just before 3 O'clock and that put me JUST ahead of the madness that is I-78 westbound in the afternoon/evening. Bottom line......I got here to the house at 7:05 and tomorrow's load will put me back in the groove for the rest of the week!

0 Very nice LK!
Woke up to more gloomy weather and no sun. This is bullshit. I'm so damn sick of this. The pool should have been opened weeks ago and I should be enjoying that new bike of mine that I've only ridden once!
