0 So is that really a jet or what?
I see on the link Vizth put up that they run on an electric motor, but that thing had some kind of gas going into it, judging by the fire extinguisher being there and all, and it sure the hell sounded like a jet. 0 (06-15-2010, 06:39 PM)twisteroo Wrote: So is that really a jet or what? Ducted fans are awesome for smaller jet models. A lot cheaper than these. XD http://www.jetcatusa.com/

0 That toy is using real jet fuel.
From the email: Model-Jet Airplane This is one absolutely amazing remote controlled [RC] model airplane. Not only did they build its jet engines, but included a retractable landing gear, and built it into a fully scaled model of the SR-71 "Blackbird" that flies just like the real McCoy. This SR-71 model was built by an Engineer / RC enthusiast in Germany , and is certainly one awesome toy. ![]()

0 Thanks for the link Vizth.
I would have never imagined that they had such small jet engines.

0 Too bad the SR-91 "Aurora" (A successor to the Blackbird) never made it past the prototype stage
![]() Especially after we spent over 4 BILLION on it in the 80s. Oh well. Government waste for you. This is supposedly an Aurora, but looks only mildly similar to concept drawings for it. ![]() Wiki Defence Aviation ![]() |
