Along those lines, I was watching Funniest Home Videos (bear with me there is a point here) and a husband played a trick on his wife, she was mad and started hitting him. Now if that was the husband hitting the wife,the cops would have been called. That is a double standard.

I can't be done with those so called Funny's, I think I know the one you mean, No1 son showed me on YouTube, like the kid falling out of the swing, not so very funny at all.

I deal with the fallout from abuse, either mental or physical. Both sides need to be dealt with, and you are right, just as many men get beaten up by their partners (male or female) as women, and they stay silent because being a man makes it harder to ask for help.

Looks as if this case was high profile and therefore fuel for the press to sell papers, not rescue the wife or the mental state of the boxer.

How about a little responsibility on the government/society's part in this? They all knew about it but it seems to be common to look the other way in Venezuela when it comes to abusing women- from the article:

I watched as my bio dad whoop my moms ass on the daily when I was a child. I told him one day I'd make sure he'd never do touch her again, 14 rolls around I some how found out what 6'3" 240 lbs could do as the bastard came home drunk and I proceeded to whoop his ass! I beat that sum bitch like he was on fire , when Mom pulled me off he just laid there motionless. he then said are you done, I whoomped on his ass some more. mom drug me off of him and called 911. cops got there and took his ass to jail and me to a youth detention center for a few months. so trust me I know what its like to see some scum bag doin this shit.
