At some point overdue becomes theft.

At some point, the expense of recovering 'stolen property' exceeds the value of the item.

Did I say that?
Libraries are underfunded anyway, so I understand their concern for lost property, but draining public funds by tying up the court system in what is ultimately a frivolous lawsuit certainly doesn't help matters. |

I did not see in the article where it was denied that the boy did not keep the item, he did , so frivolous is your opinion, was his intent malicious probably not, and could it have been handled differently probably could have. did the library know the boy and his character? did the courts know the boy and his character? the real anwer is no, they treated him according to the information they had. as a thief of public property. RE: Got An Overdue Book Or Movie? Go To Jail
Every time I have moved and did a change of address I have always gotten my mail maybe a week late but I still got it. I bet the kid tossed any notice he got. He probably lost it and never thought they would chase him down. I wonder if they ever got the movie and if anything he could have bought another one and sent that. Who the heck forgets shit like that. Yeah ...he packed it when moving. He saw it when he unpacked yeah.
