If they don't develop a natural fear of humans then yes, it is natural selection at work.
I hate "trophy" hunters and those who think it's "their woods, their deer, their etc" are just half assed poachers in my book.
When I hunt deer I really don't give a shit about how big the rack is. As long as it's got the legal number of points.
The only parts I don't use are the heart, liver and kidneys. I will give them to friends who WILL eat them so there's no waste.
I never get a doe tag. A 2-3 year old buck is my primary game.
Pennsylvania is overrun with deer (contrary to popular belief). Of the total number of deer killed in a calendar year there are nearly as many killed on the highway as there are by hunters. I-81 and I-80 sometimes look like they have been painted red for long stretches.
I would much sooner see these animals thinned out by (responsible) hunting than killed on the roads where they are nothing more than a cause for higher insurance rates.
