Most of the time we have the traditional ham or turkey dinner for Christmas.

This year we opted for something different. Pot roast.

I found what looked to be a good recipe for pot roast done in a slow cooker. We weren't disappointed!

The beef was very tender and juicy and the veggies were friggin' deeeeeelicious! Ok

We'll dig into Max's desert creation after the roast settles and then it's on to some egg nog and Mad Elf ale! Guiness

What sort of good eats were on for you?

My brother made so much food there will be leftovers for months to come. Matt is going to pick up a goodie bag on the way home from work tomorrow. Make that today.

Shrimp - scampi, fried and baked wrapped in procuitto
Veal rolotini
Veal Parmigiana
Ravioli
Ziti
Fried flounder
Flounder scampi
meatballs
sausage
pasta
salads
clams oreganato
stuffed mushrooms
fresh mozzarella salad with basil
fried veal cutlets

Never mind the dessert spread.

Also, these crazies were only feeding 6 people.

I'm pretty sure I left out some food and I know we forgot to put out the flounder scampi.

I made a mistake, it's flounder francaise.

Scampi is a lemon sauce with loads of garlic.
Francaise sauce is a lemon sauce without the garlic and is a bit more creamy.

None the wiser Joan- I think we have our selves another one of those 'across the pond' confusions...like chips!

Mark slo-cooked duck and we had potatoes, roast beetroot brussel sprouts (just got to) broccoli and parsnip with almond and lime stuffing.
Christmas pudding Good

That's not an across the pond confusion. Those are Italian dishes Smile

I'll make both for you when you come over. You'll like them. Or have Mark do it now. I'm sure he can wing some Italian food!

The duck dinner sounds fab. I'd have traded that with the chaos we had yesterday. What are beetroot brussels sprouts? Are they the dark colored ones? I love brussels sprouts but we don't get the dark ones here.

I sat on my hauches near a fire in the corner of the front room of our house roasting and munching on a wild turkey taken last Saturday.

Seriously though, it was a standard dinner what with the normal dishes you might find at any given American's plate on Christmas day. The only thing different was that the turkey was wild and tasted more rich. So much more better than I have had before.

Smoked turkey. Since I would not bend and get one for Thanksgiving, I promised hubby we would have one for Christmas. They come fully cooked, just had to heat it through to eat it warmed up. Had a salad and baked taters with it.

I'm coming to one of your houses next holiday. I can avoid the chaos and the 51 calls from my mom asking what I want packed for Matt to pick up for left overs.
