The Military-Industrial-Govt Complex Exists
Quote: Despite the success of the PMAG, Army officials from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command issued a “safety of use message” in April that placed it, and all other polymer magazines, on an unauthorized list.

The message did not single out PMAGs, but instead authorizes only the use of Army-issued aluminum magazines. The message offers little explanation for the new policy except to state that “Units are only authorized to use the Army-authorized magazines listed in the technical manuals.” Nor does it say what Army units should now do with the millions of dollars’ worth of PMAGs they’ve purchased over the years
.

Here is the most likely answer:

Quote:Maybe the Army should check out the plethora of PMAG torture test videos out there on YouTube, some even done by soldiers in the field. Here are two videos that showed how the PMAG stood up vs USGI mags. But I’m sure the Army did their own research and torture test and where in no way shape or form influenced by lobbyist or anyone in Washington.

This seems like a niche topic of discussion, but having used the current crop of standard NATO magazines, I take it a bit seriously. The current magazines are utterly shitty for use in the AR platform weapon. They will often double feed, rounds will jam up in the magazine, and they are flimsy pieces of shit.

But, you see, someone is getting millions upon millions to make this bullshit under contract to the military. Now that something better (and the P-mag is WAAAAY better) exists and is entering the market, the big movers and decision makers, realizing money was at stake from lucrative contracts, have been all non-standard magazines. I can just imagine the fear the lobbyists, contractors, and friends/connections in the gov't world felt at the overwhelming success of something other than what they were putting out. Who gives a shit what works best to a soldier's interests?

A small example of the military industrial government complex to be sure, but a glaring one. This is how things operate, and what changes hands like this in such an insidious manner? You tax dollars. Just think of that when you see military equipment anywhere, from the stupid ACU digital camoflage (another massive fuck up), to rucksacks, to weapons, to boots, to everything. I won't even touch on the ever increasing amount of civilian contractors who make $$$$$$ doing stuff for the military that are done easily enough by soldiers. This shit pisses me off to no end, but well, that is how things work in hot-dog BBQ apple pie America.

God Bless America.

RE: The Military-Industrial-Govt Complex Exists
You know, I've been telling Matt for years how I don't understand why the military cannot be self sustained when it comes to manufacturing and building the equipment it needs. There are enough people who join who really are useless at one thing but can be useful someplace else. Why hire a construction crew when you can have a whole division dedicated to construction, and so on?

RE: The Military-Industrial-Govt Complex Exists
This once again shows that there are really 3 ways to do something.

The right way.
The wrong way
The military way.
