When you buy a rack for that bike, if you are gonna put it on yourself, make sure you get one made for disk brakes.
My tool kits seem to grow and grow. My personal choices for a basic kit are,
a muli tool, something with a chain tool and spoke wrenches built into it, a set of tire levers, a patch kit, this park tool patch kit is my favorite, my second favorite is this park tool patch kit, carry something to re-inflate your tire with, and of course a new tube just in case you can't patch the flat one. You will add on to this as time goes by, I carry a pen, money, a nail (for pushing out the thing that caused the flat in the first place) a small set of pliers, cable ties, electrical tape, etc, etc...

How is that multi tool you linked? Does it fit in all the right places and give enough leverage when asked? How is the joint where they fasten together on each end of the housing? Is it weak enough to warp with pressure? Not like I'm going to step on it to give it a turn, but if something is a little tight, you know?

Do they make hot patches anymore? Remember those?

I like that CO2 pump! I totally forgot about a pump and there is no place to put one on this bike!

Now you tell me they make tire levers? I've always used a screwdriver or one of those thingys you open a paint can with!

That co2 thing I linked you to works on co2 only, no pump. I have one of those and one on order, the reason I like that one is it will take any co2 cartridge, so you can buy a box at Wal-mart for BB guns and use them, they are cheaper than the ones they sell for bikes and stuff. There is a learning curve with those things too. I had one blow the tire right off the rim one time, it sounded like a shotgun going off in my ear. I'll tell you the story and what I learned from it sometime.

I do like that multi tool that I linked to, I do own two of them, although I like the one you linked to better. Park tool is about the best stuff that you can buy for a bike. Besided the bottle opener and knife that mine don't have, it has a pedal wrench that could be a life saver sometime.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the CO2 cartridges. I just need to figure what size would fill my tire and grab a box of them to keep handy. I noticed there are several sizes on those things.

I've never over inflated a tire though - I've seen it happen to others with a regular pump... fucking thing will blow out an ear drum if you're not careful! I do have a small hand pump that will be handy for now.

Speaking of pedals - I hate mine. Goddamn clunky plastic ones. metal is better and metal does not tear apart my legs walking along side it. I may nick the metal pedals off the bike in the shed that Bobby gave Matt last summer.

What I have learned about co2 inflation, one cartridge is good enough, never, ever, never, try to just top the tire off with a second fresh cartridge. Just ride it a little soft till you get to a hand pump.
A good frame pump is the way to go if you have enough room on the bike to carry one.
I only have one bike with the room and only one really good frame pump.

My frame is really tight. I got a small water bottle and it's still tight. I need to make a decision.... pump or bottle - can't have pump and bottle. I really wanted to keep two bottle holders once I got that handlebar one. Having a 13" frame does not leave much room for toys!

I can't even use my old rack for the back. I have to find one that mounts on the seat bar. The rack can be used on Matt's bike but the frame isn't set up like his on my bike. No place to bolt it to the frame under the seat. Plenty on the back wheel area though. Sucks 'cuz I like that old wire rack better than the seat mounted ones. It has a nice old spring clip that puts pressure on the stuff you're carrying.

Yeah, the bigger the frame the more room you have for stuff. My touring/commuter bike has room for a frame pump, two bottles, and a third bottle below, room for a rack on the back, a rack on the front, etc, etc, etc...

Now I gotta know about you having the same pump, really, the same? It is a Topeak road morph?
If you do have one, they are a sweet pump, I think I may have derailed a divorce with mine one time out around Keuka lake by inflating a tire that the husband was fumbling with, he used up the last co2 and couldn't find his pump. I offered him a couple of co2 cartridges, of course he refused, I then slipped them to his wife and she gladly took them.
